San Francisco’s “Pavement to Parks” program ( inspired by the recent success of similar projects in New York City) creates spaces for people by repossessing excess roadway, through the use of simple and low-cost design interposition. The excessively wide area which contain large zones of wasted space are expected to be turned into new public plazas and parks.

See how San Francisco re-purposed parking spots during Friday’s Park(ing) Day! indeed nice planning for urban revitalization.

Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant, it’s woody perennial evergreen that can thrive without the use of pesticides and grow quickly in different climates. In many countries Bamboo plant has high cultural significance and it’s used extensively in gardens and as a building material. Bamboo can play an important role in plant conservation worldwide along with many other natural resources.

Washington-based, biotech lab, Boo-Shoot Gardens has produced a major achievement in tissue-culture science that enables rapid propagation of bamboo plants. Jackie Heinricher the Owner of Boo-shoot launched Boo-Shoot in 1998. Now Jackie Heinricher with their senior scientist Randy Burr, will supply wholesalers with over two million plants annually.

Boo-Shoot’s technology will help to meet the growing demand of bamboo in wood products, soil stabilization, reforestation paper pulp, textiles, flooring, and all sorts of household items. Since bamboo sequesters carbon 4x as efficiently as hardwood trees, growing bamboo will be good for the planet and for the air we breathe.
